This week’s W’one Win Wednesday (WWW):
A recent supply chain risk review I conducted of Voly for one of my clients is included below as an example.
There’s been a lot of noise recently about Grok behaving in unexpected and rogue ways.
Now add this news. Elon Musk is merging SpaceX, including Starlink, with xAI, which operates Grok and X (previously Twitter).
Let’s be clear. There is no evidence Grok will be hijacking Starlink on yachts - it’s a speculative headline for dramatic effect.
But ask yourself this.
If AI capabilities are increasingly embedded into platforms you rely on, how confident are you that:
• You know what is being introduced
• You understand how it behaves
• You’ve considered how failure, misuse, or manipulation could spill over to you
Starlink is now mission critical onboard, it’s the ‘like home’ experience every Owner, guest and crew member has pined for (speeds are up, complaints about internet are down - what a relief!) But changes in any supplier's ownership, strategy, or embedded technology alter its risk profile, whether you asked for them or not. Same for whether it’s AI or not.
That is supply chain risk.
